Anohana is a Japanese anime series by the studio BONES. It was developed as a tribute to mangaka Takahashi Rumiko who died in March 2010. It is dedicated to her memory, and tells the story of five childhood friends turned lovers, Kanade Suzutsuki, Meme Oshino, Tsubaki Sawabe, Chisaki Ogino and Jinta Yadomi. The show follows their lives over three different periods of time: they are children during the first half of the series; adults during most of the second half; and old adults towards the end where they reminisce about memories from their childhoods. The first part of the series is largely episodic, with no overall plot; the series is driven by its characters' relationships and interactions with each other. An anime film called "AnoHana: The Flower We Saw That Day" was announced in July 2011. It was released on April 20, 2012 in Japan. The Blu-ray version of AnoHana Film will be released on June 27, 2012. The film takes place three years after the television anime ended. The main cast from the television anime return to reprise their roles in the movie, except Sera's voice actress is replaced by Minako Kotobuki. In addition, a character designer from "Clannad" and "Little Busters!", Tomoki Kikuya is redesigning the characters for the film.
